My Nursing Experience
I have chosen for much of my nursing career to work as a bank (relief) nurse in order to get a range of experience. This has also fitted well with my family caring responsibilities and voluntary work. I started my nursing career gaining a combination of grounding in medical nursing at Dr Grays Hospital (district general hospital) and in ward management at Nairn Town & County Hospital (a community hospital). I also gained specialist palliative care experience at Highland Hospice, which all led to me fuilfilling my ambition to become a Marie Curie nurse in 2007.
Since then I have worked wholly in the community as a Marie Curie nurse and a community nurse in the Highland area. Moving back to my roots in Moray, I have worked for the last few years at NHS Grampian in Elgin as a community nurse. I recently gave up my post with Marie Curie in Highland to focus on private nursing and still work occasionally for the NHS.
